Sensitivity Training

posted by Christopher James

This one seems appropriate for our upcoming journey. Nevada's going to fix some of its less than politically correct historical markers.

Phrases like "Chinese hoards stormed" Tuscarora and "Before the coming of the white man, roving Washoe and Paiute bands roamed the Truckee Meadows" were a couple of examples...

Yikes! Yes, those should be changed. Let's hope this doesn't get caught up in the anti-PC movement. Can we all agree that it's not okay to use animal adjectives with humans? Or perhaps we could just go all out the other way.

"Washoe and Paiute roamed the Truckee Meadows until the white man invaded their habitats."

  1. Chris & Amber you will have a lot of fun on this trip. I've been many of these places and it is really nice to go to places few others go. But, this Nevada trip also, goes to California. You could say that Death Valley is federal property, so that doesn't count.

    1. I'm calling it "occupied southwest Nevada." More on that in another post...
